PRACTICAL GUIDE

What to know before you extract pdf pages

Extract pages creates a new PDF from one continuous range, such as pages 3 through 8. The original is not cut or overwritten, so you can share only the required section while retaining the source.

Share one chapter

Send a chapter or appendix instead of an entire textbook or report.

Selective disclosure

Create a copy containing only the pages a client or colleague needs.

Prepare a print job

Save one continuous section as a separate document for printing or filing.

HOW THE PDF CHANGES

Technical limits to understand

Current range support

The web tool accepts one continuous range. For separate ranges, extract them individually and merge the results.

Page numbering

Entered numbers refer to positions in the file starting at 1, which may differ from numbers printed on the pages.

Interactive objects

Links, forms, bookmarks and signatures depend on the source structure. Inspect the result before formal use.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If the result is not what you expected

Why is my range rejected?

The first page must be at least 1, the last cannot precede it, and both must exist in the document.

How can I take pages 1, 4 and 9?

Separate ranges are not supported in one pass yet. Extract them individually, then use Merge PDF.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does extracting remove pages from the original?

No. The tool creates a new file and leaves the original on your device unchanged.

Can I select separate page ranges?

The current version supports one continuous range. Multiple ranges are planned for a later release.

Why can a large file be slow?

The browser holds input and output data in memory, so devices with less RAM may take longer.
